Welcome to my website.
I am Mississippi author Katherine R. Dougan, a writer, former journalist, musician and singer/songwriter.
A Southern Indiana native, I grew up in the small Ohio River town of Yankeetown, Indiana. I have lived in the Deep South for the past 12 years
I recently completed my first book, "The Queen of Yankeetown," a collection of original songs, stories, anecdotes, and family tales that put the FUN in dysFUNctional.
Included in the book are bizarre episodes from my life as well as stories about a Waffle House wedding, a moonshine-brewing grandfather, dwarf night at the Laundromat, back porch cat surgery, being an accidental airport flasher, and stories about things my younger brothers broke, swallowed, or stuffed up their noses, to name a few.
"The Queen of Yankeetown" will be published in Summer 2010 by Brick Streets Press, the publishing entity of The Arts Council of Clinton (MS) Inc. I plan to include a music CD of my original songs with the book.
Please check back here and I'll let you know when my book is available as an eBook and in print.
Thanks for visiting.
